Garlic has antibacterial, antifungal properties. I periodically take 3 capsules of either Kyolic Aged Garlic (Digestion Formula) or Mercola Fermented Black Garlic a day. It boosts my immune system, helps digestion and fights yeast infections. If I remove garlic from my diet (both in food and supplements), I get severe abdominal cramps so it definitely chases away some sort of bacteria or parasite.

I took the Hydrogen & Methane Breath Test and the doctor prescribed Xifaxan, an antibiotic that fights bacterial infection only in the intestines. I took it for 2 weeks (three 550mg tablets a day) and the results were better than Pure Encapsulations MicroDefense (maybe 10% better). I felt great while taking it. However, it was only a 2 week course which wasn't long enough -- the symptoms came back shortly after. The downside of Xifaxan is (1) it requires a prescription, and (2) it's very pricey so you need good health i...

A few years back I started taking spirulina and chlorella. I read stories about it restoring people to perfect health. Well, that didn't happen but I think it helps with overall health. I take Mercola Spiru-Blue (3 tabs a day) and Mercola Fermented Chlorella (5-6 tablets a day). I've taken Earthrise Spirulina and Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica which are comparable. I've tried other chlorella brands which caused digestive upsets. The fermentation process of the Mercola brand makes it more digestible.

I've read that fresh celery juice can have remarkable results (strengthen digestion, anti-inflammatory, increase HCL, even a first hand account of it curing cancer)  so I tried it out. I drank 1 - 2 cups of fresh organic celery juice daily for 2 months. I had it in the morning on an empty stomach and waited 30 minutes before eating breakfast.  It made my hair and skin really soft but, unfortunately, it didn't help with my digestive issues. I give it 3 stars because it improved my health in some manner, just not in the area I need it the most.  Some pe...

Milk kefir consists of live bacteria and yeasts. The bacteria/yeast vary depending on the batch from which it came. I tried milk kefir from https://www.culturedfoodlife.com. It was very easy to make and the grains multiplied like crazy (I used organic, non-homogenized whole milk from Straus). I've read many accounts of people with hard to diagnose problems (wasting/autoimmune) recovering after drinking milk kefir. I was hoping for the same results...
